One popular South Indian dish is dosa, a type of crepe made from fermented rice and lentils. Here is a simple recipe for making dosa at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
- 4 cups parboiled rice
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for cooking
Instructions:
- Soak the urad dal and rice separately in water for at least 4 hours. Drain and grind the dal to a smooth batter, then add the ground rice and continue to grind until the batter is smooth and fluffy.
- Add salt to taste and mix well. Cover and let the batter ferment for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Heat a non-stick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Ladle some batter onto the griddle and spread it out into a thin, circular shape.
- Drizzle some oil around the edges and cook until the dosa is golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the dosa and cook the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
Enjoy your delicious homemade dosa!
